Welcome to Jubilee Gardens!
We are a licensed plant nursery in Roan Mountain, Tennessee. Most of our beautiful plants are registered award winners (See Award Winners above). Jubilee means "season of rejoicing"! Any time beautiful flowers are blooming is truly a season for rejoicing! Thank you for visiting our web page. WE HAVE NOT DECIDED IF WE WILL BE SELLING IN 2021. WE WILL POST A MESSAGE LATER WHEN WE DECIDE. For now, enjoy the pictures! Judy & Madison
For the Love of Iris
by Judy Tapio We till, we plant, we fertilize. We lime, we weed, we fungicide. We ward off bugs and voles and more. We order our kids to play next door. We lose some tags and break some stalks. We cry when we find signs of rot. We pray through rain, through wind, through hail. We wait, we beg, we must prevail. When finally we see those blooms. Our hearts will leap, we act like loons! Some blooms delight, while others amaze. Many we find have got the wrong names! Once they're through, we search for more. We pick new ones to come to our door! We've got it bad, we're hooked of course, But there are habits that are so much worse! Some tell us that iris grow easily, But we know so much differently. A few days of beauty that makes us all smile, Makes all that work seem so worthwhile! How Do I Choose a "Good" Iris or Daylily??? It's pretty much impossible for a gardener to know how to choose a good plant by just looking at a picture. It may look beautiful, but does it grow well, bloom well, stand up to various conditions, etc? For some help, go to our section "Award Winners" on the menu at the top of this page. There are six lists: 1) Dykes Award winners - best Iris voted each year by judges 2) Wister Award winners - top three Tall Bearded Iris voted for each year by judges 3) 100 Most Popular Tall Bearded Iris voted for each year by every day gardeners who are members of the American Iris Society 4) Iris Hall of Fame - Iris that are among the top five vote-getters for three out of five consecutive years in the "America's Choice" poll. There are currently 30 iris in the Hall of Fame. 5) Stout Medalist winners - best day lily voted by judges each year 6) Lennington Award winners - best performing day lily over a wide geographic area voted each year We grow most of these Award Winning plants and have included pictures and other information. These lists have been very helpful to us in choosing Iris and day lilies. There are many other great plants out there as well! This is just a good place to start. Of course we often still succumb to a beautiful picture! We just can't help ourselves! |

We are a very small grower. My mother and I never intended to become a large commercial garden. We were not selling for our livelihood or profit. My mother, Billie, passed away last May. I, Judy, am in my 60’s. My daughter-in-law, Madison, joined us three years ago. We basically just grow iris and day lilies for our own enjoyment in our gardens. We take excellent care of our plants. The main reason we are selling is because we have so much increase and overflow. We DO NOT want to throw plants away! However, we are addicted - especially to iris. We have bought and bought iris through the years and continue to do so!!! As our plants keep growing, we need to find homes for them as a matter of survival! So, our goal is only to make enough money to cover costs to package and ship, buy new plants, and maintain the ones we have. We want others to enjoy gardening as much as we do! Just know that if you purchase iris from us, you are enabling our addiction! Other Information
